A traditional cottage extension

Our clients wanted to extend their Grade II Listed stone and thatched cottage in a rural Dorset village. To preserve the original ‘long cottage’ the main mass of the extension was designed to reflect a converted standalone coach house with the gap between this and the cottage infilled in a more contemporary flat roofed oak fronted style.¬†We used Portland stone, timber and slate to complement the existing cottage and the surrounding village architecture. The sitting room is roof lit to increase a sense of light and space.
