A traditional cottage extension

Our clients wanted to extend their Grade II Listed stone and thatched cottage in a rural Dorset village. To preserve the original ‘long cottage’ the main mass of the extension was designed to reflect a converted standalone coach house with the gap between this and the cottage infilled in a more contemporary flat roofed oak fronted style. We used Portland stone, timber and slate to complement the existing cottage and the surrounding village architecture. The sitting room is roof lit to increase a sense of light and space.
