POUNDBURY KITCHEN EXTENSION

Our Clients approached us to improve what was a rather small kitchen in a large, detached house in Poundbury. Working within the tight restrictions imposed by the Duchy of Cornwall, we designed an extension very much in keeping with the original house but concealed from the public green beside Middle Farm Way with a classical sweep upwards in the existing garden wall. The increased height of the garden wall was given further architectural purpose by the inclusion of a traditional blind window.  The final design was complimented by the Duchy’s architectural advisor.

The extension has provided the Clients with a modern, light, open plan kitchen and breakfast room with large full height glazed doors opening onto the west facing terrace. The brickwork, along with the plinth and cornice detailing, enhance the character and design of the original house
