Keepers Cottage
A dramatic transformation
Our Clients were fortunate to acquire the Keepers Cottage to the former Clyffe House estate when it was sold on the open market for the first time since being constructed. The Practice was tasked with extending this modest Grade II Listed Building to create a family home.
The solution involved a new range set at ninety degrees to the original and set lower in the ground to help its visual subservience. This range contained a kitchen/eating/family room with bedrooms and bathrooms above, and was linked to the original with a partly glazed structure housing a new staircase that reconciled all of the different floor levels. This approach allowed the original cottage to be largely preserved and restored.
Externally we designed a three bay garage and workshop with multi-use attic space over.
