Creating a welcoming church
The Client, who we had previously worked with on a scheme of external repairs, asked us to make the interior of the church lighter and more welcoming. The replacement of the dark timber narthex screen, and associated gallery balustrade above, with frameless glazing provides visitors with views of the whole interior from the moment they step through the front doors. The new screen also includes a hexagonal breakfront with oak pediment to reflect the relocated font.
We also re-ordered the altar, formed a new glass and oak confessional, and re-decorated throughout to create a modern, friendly space which enhanced the beauty and character of the original church.
